Special District No. 1 is pleased to provide refuse collection services to the residents of unincorporated SL County and to the cities of Herriman, Holladay, and Taylorsville. We are located in the Salt Lake County Public Works Complex at 7125 South 600 West in Midvale.

Fee Schedule The monthly service fee is $11 per unit or $132 per year. The service fee is added to the annual property tax notice. One initial container is provided to each unit. Additional containers may be rented for $15 per month with a minimum six month commitment. The homeowner is required to sign a rental agreement form and prepay the first six month fee of $90. This agreement may be signed in our office, mailed to the resident, or downloaded to print.
Recycling Program The recycling program is available to residents. A blue 95-gallon automated container is provided for residents to dispose of cardboard, paper, plastic, aluminum, and tin. The container is emptied every other week on the regularly scheduled refuse collection day.
Trailer Program The trailer program aids in the disposal of items that are too large for the regular weekly collection service. Homeowners may request use of a trailer to dispose of green or bulk waste. A $20 fee is assessed if the trailer is used for green material (branches, leaves, yard debris). If used for bulk waste (mattresses, furniture, household garbage, etc.) a delivery fee of $30 plus the landfill tipping fee of $23 per ton is charged.
The homeowner is required to sign either a green waste trailer agreement (24k pdf) form or a bulk waste trailer agreement (17k pdf) form and prepay the delivery fee before the trailer is scheduled. The trailer agreement form may be signed in our office, mailed to the resident, or downloaded to print and returned with payment.
Box Collection for New Residents A special collection for moving boxes and packing material is provided for new residents. Upon request the Sanitation Office will arrange for the material to be collected from the resident's curbside to be taken to a recycling facility. This service is provided at no additional charge. Fall Leaf Bag Program Each fall season leaf bags are supplied to residents at no cost. Trailers are placed at various locations throughout the County for disposal of the bags. The leaves are taken to the landfill for use in their composting program.
Christmas Tree Program A curbside Christmas tree collection is provided each January. The trees are used by the landfill in their composting program.
Special Assistance Program Any resident with special needs may request assistance with their weekly collection at no additional charge. If needed the driver will take the container to the curb and return it after it is dumped. We are happy to work individually with any resident requiring assistance.
